The UP Manila College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) held the KAPIT BISIG: A Campaign for Initiative and Service Volunteer Fair on March 9, 2009. The objectives of the Kapit-Bisig fair are (1) to put the three distinct CAMP courses (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Pathology) together (2) reinforce the practical knowledge, skills and attitudes learned inside the classroom and (3) encourage participants to take part in activities that go beyond their spheres of influence and allow them to serve the community.
The said event was sponsored by other college-based organizations, the Association of Physical Therapy Student (APTS), the CAMP Volunteer Corps (CVC), the Collegiate Association of Speech Pathologist (CASP) and the Society of Occupational Therapy Majors (SOTM).
Life Haven presented the Independent Living Philosophy and the Independent Living Movement to those who visited our table. The May 30 fund-raising concert event “Live Free” was also promoted.
Among others that were also invited were the Handicap International, Operation Blessing, Tahanang Walang Hagdan Inc., Resources for the Blind, Philippine Deaf, Women’s Health and Crisis Center Inc., The Philippines Red Cross-Manila Chapter, Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Philippine Association for Citizens with Developmental and Learning Disabilities Inc., Philippine Federation of the Deaf, Inc., Philippine Deaf Resource Center Inc., Support and Empower Abused Deaf Children, Filipino Deaf Visual Artist Group, Inc., and University of the Philippines Pahinungod.
