LHI Meets the President Noynoy

Objectives:

1.   To present to the newly elected President of the Philippines the papers on (1) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, (2) Result of the survey on the economic status of persons with disabilities in selected cities of Metro Manila which was conducted by PIDS, (3) The 2010 Bangkok Recommendation and (4) Seeks the support for a law on Personal Assistance Service system.

2.   To make the newly elected President of the Philippines aware that persons with disabilities are advocating for their rights.

 

Venue:

Times Street, Quezon City


Participants:

Abner Manlapaz, Ericzon Dy, Jun Bernandino, Jaime Cajefe & Teody Auxilian, Lauro Purcil and our Personal Assistants

 

Outcome:

          The President obliged to see us even just for a short time. Our group successfully presented to the President the papers.

 

Evaluation:

          The President was made aware that persons with disabilities are advocating for their rights. We are hoping that the encounter will keep the President aware of the plight of persons with disabilities.
